Could you ever imagine that adding salt to your coffee could reinforce its flavour?
It seems that sodium ions possess not only the quality to increase the flavour, according to the studies of the journal Nature, but also to suppress coffee bitterness.
The thinking behind salting coffee is that salt acts as a bitterness reducer, somehow either blocking or tricking our brain and tongue into receiving all of that bitter taste.
However, be careful! If you add even a pinch too much you could end up drinking a very salty coffee and this would only make your day worse!
